HAND-DRAWN 2D SERIES
Animatix Visial Communication — Chennai
CG Head/Production Incharge
Tara Ki Duniya
A hand-drawn 2D animated series (13 episodes, 22 minutes each), produced in Hindi by First Serve and broadcast nationally on Doordarshan. Early in my career, I worked across all 13 episodes , a defining phase that built my foundation in animation, discipline, and storytelling.
This was a fully hands-on, end-to-end production pipeline, where every stage demanded precision and ownership:
Pre-production
- Breaking down audio tracks to understand timing, emotion, and pacing
- Shot breakdown and sequencing for each episode
- Dialogue-driven lip-sync planning, frame by frame
Production & Post
- Manual scanning of hand-drawn cell sheets , converting physical drawings into digital assets
- Frame-by-frame digital coloring and cleanup, ensuring consistency across sequences
- Animation and compositing, integrating layers into final shots
- Editing and assembly, followed by final delivery on Beta tape
This was a time when pipelines were manual, tools were limited, and everything relied on craft and patience.
It was demanding ,but it built a strong understanding of how animation truly comes together, from sound to frame to final output.
More importantly, it created a lasting connection to the characters and stories we brought to life ,something that continues to influence how I approach art and direction today.
Also contributed to multiple Advertisement films during this time ,delivering high-quality output under tight timelines, strengthening speed, precision, and production discipline.

Learned under the guidance of Mr. Phani Tetali, Mr. C.S. Rajaram, and Mr. Solomon — an important early influence on my visual and technical foundation.
I still remember struggling to get the gold to feel right on the Ammoru logo, the reflections just weren’t working. Mr. Phani Tetali showed me how to paint over a static frame, building highlights layer by layer. That’s when I first understood how depth is created , not just rendered.
